Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon, was a French naturalist and mathematician. Buffon’s works influenced the next two generations of naturalists. During his lifetime, he published thirty-six quarto volumes of his Histoire Naturelle, which highlighted animals and nature.
